P30M to Hasten Greening of Upland Communities

30 million pesos was granted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)for the nationwide program to green upland communities.

This amount was given to some 8,000 members drawn from the Agrarian Reform Fund under the Executive Order 263 that adopted the Community-based Forest Management Program (CBFM) as the national strategy for the sustainable development of the country's forestlands.

CBFM's target is to develop create two million jobs and two million hectares of agribusiness lands.

The program also aim to upgrade communities' socioeconomic status to control further dreadful conditions of the environment.

The projects are now being implemented in Kalinga and Quirino in Cordillera; Zambales and Nueva Ecija in Region 3; Quezon, Romblon in Regions 4A and 4B, respectively; Camarines Norte in Region 5; Antique in Region 6; Negros Oriental In Region 7; Biliran and Samar in Region 8; Zamboanga Sibugay and Zamboanga del Norte in Region 9; Lanao del Norte, Bukidnon, Misamis Occidental in Region 10; Davao Oriental in Region 11; Sarangani and South Cotabato in Region 12; and Agusan del Sur and Surigao del Norte in CARAGA.
