Rizal is known as a great Filipino whose works ignited the revolt against Western conjugation not only in the Philippines but also in Asia. He was also tagged as “Pride of the Malay Race” by historians being the first Asian to introduce Western Ideas of social and political liberalism.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will lead the unveiling of Rizal’s bronze bust located at Rizal Park in la Molina District, Lima, Peru.

Explore Rizal’s childhood by watching Batang Rizal on October 3 to 5, 11 to 12 and 17 to 19.

Batang Rizal is a musical play on Rizal’s childhood for Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) Directed by Dudz Teraña.

The play play follows the life of rascal Pepito, a public school elementary pupil, who is punished after he accidentally breaks a statue of a young Rizal. The statue had been donated by the local mayor and the “crime” is discovered during the unveiling ceremony itself.

Pepito is also forced to study his lessons on the life and times of Rizal. While studying, a magical book transports Pepito to the time of Pepe, Rizal’s nickname, wherein he learns, first hand, more about the young boy himself.
