As typhoon Pepeng (international code name Parma) start to hit the Philippines, Smart and Globe will reduce rates rates for domestic mobile voice calls in preparation for the said typhoon.

Globe Telecom Inc. is set to launch its advanced broadband delivery platform called gigabit-capable passive optical network on Monday in Forbes Park, Makati City.

A move to suspend the unlimited call and text messaging of Globe and Smart this holiday season was initiated by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).

In the 2008 State of the Nation Address (SONA) delivered by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, she stated that she talked to Telecommunications company regarding the SMS or Text Messaging rate from one peso to fifty centavo.
