well as a patriotic filipino, i have to defend my country. i think mr. tsao doesn’t even know the word professionalism. in today’s modern world of thinking, he has no place on earth. his thinking maybe has been influenced by the herbal medicines most chinese take. even for the last thought, i was thinking of asian countries as one and as together in global campaign of equality. well, to my suyrprise, this stupid chineese acted as if he is God, as if China has all the right in the world to claim the spratly Island as theirs as if Chineese has a higher class in society. i think he went to the wrong school. he seemed very tactless and insensitive and arrogant and STUPID! His values are impossible for a columnist.
filipinos who have been working hard in abroad, i call them heroes. their hardships and sacrifices should be appreciated as an initiative to survive (a basic instinct of every human being) and not to be insulted. we equally have the right to be respected as anybody should be.
Mr.Tsao, you started the fire, and we filipinos will finish that siege. we are everywhere and we strive in every corner of this world. what you said will be remembered by every filipino. the fight is not yet over.

Chip Tsao, though my heart is bursting with anger and my mind bothered with your truly MORONIC sentiments, I chose not to bother with your stupidity. I believe not all Chinese people are imbeciles like you and I have made friends with them. I cannot comprehend how you came to be called a professional. You’re a big, fat, slant-eyed BIGOT. How would you like your people to be referred to as the “Sick men of Asia” again? You better watch your mouth. And pleeease, get your a** up and conduct some more research to inject some “substance” in your articles. Your works are as null as your soul. Your skills are nothing compared to that of our professionals. Here, your arrogance will be reduced to a miserable pile of nothingness…The reason why your thoughts are like that is because your country is very hungry for worldwide recognition after waking up from a coma. Our country may be exporting professionals and, yes, even domestic helpers, but that is because we posses the skills your people cannot meet in your nation. It’s either that or your people are simply too proud to clean up their own mess..You may not be a Christian but our GOD, the God of David, the one true GOD who is looking over our country will show that He is the God of justice. Better watch your mouth and your heart, someday, you may live too see your country’s devastation (In case someone hasn’t assassinated you that time yet).

Are the HK Magazine publishers and editors trying to educate the Filipinos by stating that Mr. Chip Tsao’s article was that of satire and should not be treated by the readers seriously? Satires have often been misunderstood but I think he succeeded in carrying out his purpose any way – but we, Filipinos, doesn’t seem to learn. We like to react furiously to negative comments about us. We like to rant at the shortcomings of our government. But have we stopped and thought of why these kind of people write such or comment such things about us? Have we done something to prove them wrong? Have you done your part in making this society worth of dignity and respect? I’m not saying this in defense of Mr. Tsao’s article. I was too, angered by his harsh criticism and treatment to his domestic assistant. I pity his ignorance about the Philippines and it’s people – about the Filipinos’ contributions to the world. It clearly showed how poor his research was – and at the same time, clearly shows how little is known of the Philippines all over the world. While South Korea has been establishing efforts to make their niche in the world (not only because they are economically advancing), their respective governments have been doing a lot of research in their country’s history and correcting the mistakes in nearly every written article about Korea (including textbooks used in foreign schools intended for foreign study) that can be found all over the world, we, the Philippines is known for being a provider of cheap quality labor because of the million Filipinos scattered overseas and that, without the earnings they receive from their ‘foreign masters’ – our country’s economy could have faltered long ago. I understand and that THEY should understand how Filipinos care so much about their families that sacrificing quality time, being away with their loved ones, and swallowing up their pride (most Filipino working overseas hold college degrees) in exchange for cheap labor is what one would be willing to do just to make both ends meet (although a few managed to become financially successful). Mr. Tsao’s actions especially to his domestic assistant, clearly sets an example of how a person – pretending to be educated and from a so called ‘advancing economy’ has lost his moral values. My fellow Filipinos, is this what we are willing to sacrifice for in exchange of economic advancement? Certainly not. But I would like to challenge everyone, if we are educated people like what we purport to be – let us think and behave as educated people but let us not be too intellectual for our own good.

I’m a Filipino so I can’t help but be offended by what Mr. Tsao wrote but we have to understand that he is free to express his opinions. What bothered me most about the article was the way he and his friends force their way of thinking on their Filipina househelp. I mean if he is allowed to express his opinion, shouldn’t their domestic helpers be allowed to express their’s?

Good comment Toto!!!

Yeah… Many families (including mine) depend on the remittances of OFW’s but just because they’re working there doesn’t mean the employers can be called “Masters”… Cheap Kaw is too obnoxious to consider himself master and he doesn’t deserve the services of hard-working Filipino people. He shouldn’t be a racist considering he’s also Asian.. In the US, many Chinese would hate to be discriminated as well as Filipinos so I think the only way we won’t be discriminated by the West is not to discriminate our kind as well.. We are all Asians, Philippines is not only a “HOME” to Filipinos but also to Chinese, Koreans, Japanese, Indians, etc…

My Dad, who’s an official in a tanker ship even experienced harassment from other officials but without him, matagal na sana na kimkim ng Somalian Pirates ang barko nila.

And lastly, domestic helpers are humans. They have rights & dignity. Even if they are employed, the employers do not own the rights of the dh. I’ll join whatever orgs there are to help these abused workers…

And to CHIP TSAO, you’re a crap! You don’t own us & your apology already made a mark on our souls. I hope you’re happy w/ your words. It’s an eye-opener, yes, but it also broke many Filipino hearts. You are a heartless freak!

Cheap Tsao’s article only shows that he doesn’t respect our country – he sees us as a slave – good for nothing people cleaning his (or her – i think he’s gay, better if I use “it”) toilet bowl. We should make “it” apologize publicly before we hang “it” with “its” toilet bowl hanging to “its” head. Then we shot “it” with a machine gun until no flesh and bones remains to it…

Anyway, it is really the fault of our politicians that other people also don’t respect us – - if all our top officials and politicians will stop being corrupt then maybe others will respect us…

Chip Tseao
You add insult to injury by defining the word SERVANT. Be informed that 90% of Filipinos can understand English and 80% can Speak english, and 75% are fluent in English Language.
This is the reason why filipino overseas workers are highly in demand in other countries. Frankly speaking, we speak better english than your countrymen.
The economic situation of the Philippines does not reflect the filipinos in totality. It is just a product of our poor and some corrupt politician but it does not reflect the whole filipinos.

See the map, which is nearer. Spratly islands is nearer to the Philippines than China.

Correction Mr. Tseao, we are not dependent to China just because plenty filipinos are working in that country. You Chinese should think that Chinese are making business in the Philippines were mostly dont pay salaries as provided by Philippines laws. Most of Chinese businessmen in the country are inhuman in terms of workers’ treatment.
Tseao, we are not afraid of war against your country, I can even ask you to duel in any form if you want. SHAME ON YOU…..PIKOT NGA WAY BUOT…

The worst way to deal with this whole Chip Tsao thing is to respond to his racism with the same. He made sweeping generalizations about Filipinos working abroad, and I’ve looked at a lot of blogs and the comments people made in them, and what is so glaringly noticeable is how a lot have responded by throwing back racial slurs against the Chinese. Chip Tsao was not writing about every Chinese person’s perception of their Filipino employees. His article was a personal opinion, and one that is satirical.

What we can all agree on, however, is that his attempt at satire fell flat; he came across as very small-minded and ignorant — and as some people have said, exceedingly insecure. But I bet the whole point of him writing that article was to generate the exact outraged response that Filipinos have given in a bid for attention. The best way to deal with this is to just acknowledge it as what it is, a poorly-written, attention-grubbing attempt.

Let’s not disparage the rest of our Chinese brethren. This behavior is not helpful in any way, and will only spark a war in words — or worse — between the offended parties. Who would seriously want that to happen? If we want to “defend our country” and “show patriotism”, let’s do it by not stooping to Chip Tsao’s level of pettiness. Let’s all be civilized human beings here.

And to the commenter ABNOY, who said “KILL TSIP CHAO! BEHEAD, CUT THE THROAT, CUT HIS HAND,BURN HIM , HE’S A GAY.”– if Chip Tsao’s racist, you’re not any better as a homophobic hypocrite.

I just wonder his domestic assistant as an international politics graduates still there? I don’t believe he had one, it’s just a ploy to make it real that he is what you call a master!!! or a master chef sir hahahha…Well guys, you can see his attitude is an insecure, uncontented and hunger of power or an illusion of grandeur I think. But don’t worry he is carrying the 666. The Spratly Island is really ours even in the International law. The Geographic Law which is our country in the triangular position even the law of the Ocean that’s ours. Did he know that Spratly is not a chinese word hahahaha…. Mr. Tsao, what you say is what you get in return. Let this be a lesson, either you are Filipino or Chinese, to be very careful with our words. Before we scribble that pen or touch that key, remember that what we say or write will reflect who we are as a person.. and that every word we speak/write will have repercussions. In Mr. Tsao’s case, he has thrown so much dirt; so much that he has already lose ground. To us Filipinos, let us not reason out barbarically.. show Mr. Tsao, that we are educated, civilized people.. able and more than ready to defend ourselves from such arrogance. Let me leave you with this quote from Eleanor Roosevelt: “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” Mabuhay ang mga Pilipino!
