The Philippine entry to Oscar’s Best Foreign Language Film category this year, Ploning, failed to make it to the next round of eliminations.
Co-produced by Judy Ann Santos who also played the role of Ploning did her best in lobbying for her film’s Oscar bid. Different fund raising events were made to help the film’s cause like Damit Para Kay Ploning, Plato Para Kay Ploning, and Laro Para Kay Ploning but it was still not enough for the Academy voters.
The nominations for the 81st annual Academy Awards will be announced on January 22.
