In the International Television Broadcasting Awards of the 2009 New York Festivals, Philippines bagged three Gold World Awards.
A Gold World Medal was earned by a TV special marking the first decade of Bantay Bata 163. Jiggy Manicad’s 24 Oras coverage of Corporal Abeto also gained a Gold World Medal and GMA-7’s sister station, Q11, bagged the Gold World Medal Award for the Biography/Profiles Category for Inno Sotto: A Special Fashion Documentary.
Aside from the Gold World Medals, ABS-CBN received three Silver World Medals and Finalist Certificates for three shows. These are:
Boy & Kris – Silver World Medal for Talk/Interview
Mars Ravelo’s Lastikman – Silver World Medal for Action/Adventure
Korina Sanchez – Silver World Medal for Investigative Report
Kung Fu Kids – Finalist Certificate for Children’s Program
Wowowee – Finalist Certificate for Family Program
Rated K – Finalist Certificate for Magazine Format.
Also, Korina Sanchez gained a Finalist Certificate for the category Best News Reporter.
Meanwhile, the Kapuso Network is also the recipient of one Silver and two Bronze World Medals, and seven Finalist Certificates. These are:
24 Oras’ “Lanao Attacks” – Silver World Medal in the Best Newscast Category
Reporter’s Notebook’s “Pinays for Export: The Asian Sex Trafficking Trail” – Bronze World Medal for Best Public Affairs Program
Chef to Go with its “Pesco Vegetarian Meal” episode – Bronze World Medal for the Magazine Format Category.
Joaquin Bordado – Finalist Certificate for the Action/ Adventure category
Emergency’s “Jumper Kids/Battered Children” – Finalist Certificate for the Social Issues/Current Events Category
I-Witness’ “Crystal Mountain” – Finalist Certificate for the Community Portraits Category.
The Sweet Life – Finalist Certificate for the Magazine Format Category
Ang Pinaka’s “Ang Pinaka Sikat na Pinoy sa Internet” – Finalist Certificate for the Magazine Format Category
News on Q’s “Batasan Blast” – Finalist Certificate for the Coverage of Breaking News Category

New York Festival is an International Awards Group (IAG) established in 1958 that recognizes the world’s best work in advertising and television programming.
