Wowowee host Willie Revillame was again in controversy where according to reports there were several OFWs who went to the ABS-CBN compound to try their luck for the Wowowee’s Willie of Fortune segment but they claim that they were fooled by the host and the show.
Last December 20, Willie announced that on December 25, their contestant will be those OFWs who lost their job because of crisis abroad. This will serve as their tribute for them.
On that same day, he also announced the schedule for the screening. Taping for the December 25 episode was done last December 22.
Meanwhile, female host Pokwang made it clear that on December 25, there will be no schedule for screening and line s for the Thursday show. She said that it will not be a live show for December 25.
With this, after Willie being reported and accused of fooling the OFWs, the Wowowee host apologized and gave his statement through his show. He said:
Pagpasensyahan n’yo na po kung may pagkukulang kami. Sana ay intindihin n’yo muna kung dapat pumila o hindi. Magmula ngayon pakinggan [niyo po muna] ang announcement para hindi na kayo mag-aksaya ng panahon.
Sa mga dumating pasensya na kayo. Kami na ang humihingi ng paumanhin. Kung may pagkukulang kami pasensya na ho kayo. Maaaring hindi namin na-announce na walang pila kasi hindi naman magandang i-announce na naka-tape kami
ABS-CBN Corporate Communication’s head Bong Osorio said that the location manager of Wowowee had listed the names and the contact numbers of the OFWs involved in the incident “for reference in future live shows.”
Willie also said that they are doing their best to make it up to them.
