Senator Manuel Villar announced at the beginning of the session that he is going to vacate his position as Senate President.
Along with him, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano resigned as chairman of the blue ribbon committee, and Senator Aquilino Pimentel Jr. has also resigned as minority floor leader.
According to Villar, he was vacating his post after learning that he no longer had the support of majority of the chamber.
This has something to do with the C-5 Controversy.
Senator Juan Ponce Enrile replaced Villar in his position as Senate President.
