Philippines’ largest flag was spread out in Baguio almost the same time the world’s largest flag was unfurled in Israel, on June 12 as Filipinos celebrate their 110th year of Independence.
About 600 people including Boy Scouts, schoolchildren and police officers unfurled the Philippine flag in Baguio Athletic Bowl weighing 3.8 tons and measures 180 x 92 meters and costs Php 30 million.
The new Philippine flag that was unfurled in Baguio was made of 14,000 yards of taffeta nylon and 1,250 yards of satin for the stars and sun. It took more than a month to create it and the person behind it is the same person who made the world’s largest flag, Grace G. Gupana.
