Nine army officers of Magdalo group who were convicted of a coup against the Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo were given pardon.
According to President Arroyo, this was the military chief General Hermogenes Esperon’s recommendation, and that is to pardon two army captains and seven lieutenants who had plotted to overthrow her government last July of 2003.
This will be one of the the president’s last acts before Esperon hands in his uniform.
