I received an email coming from my colleague with an attachment titled “Women Losses sight after drinking too much water”. I got interested on it and read about the story since we all know that as much as possible we should drink a minimum of 8 glass of water everyday.
The story say’s that the lady was having a high blood pressure and think that drinking water could lessen her blood pressure however she drink more than what is required by our body in a day.
Experts say’s, too much water could cause hyponatremia, a condition where there is insufficient sodium in our blood. Excess water was absorbed by her body cells and accordingly to her brain cells thus putting pressure. Too much pressure causes bleeding on her visual processing center of the brain which contains the visual cortex and therefore causes the loss of her sight.
Further, sodium in our blood maintains our cell metabolism rate, thus drinking too much water will decrease the sodium ions which causes the brain cell to swell and eventually lead to bleeding as experts quoted saying in the article.
We need to replenish the loss water in our body but we should do it moderately and take what is required by our body. If we tend to utilized more than what is required we have some consequence to face.
