JDV resigns as Lakas-CMD president

Former House Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. resigns as presiden president of Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) party.

According to Attorney Raul Lambino, de Venecia’s lawyer and former Lakas deputy secretary-general,  there is no formal resignation letter yet from de Venecia but he will be conveying de Venecia’s resignation to the National Directorate in their closed-door meeting.

“Effective today, he is resigning as president of Lakas-CMD. That is what he told me when I spoke to him by telephone ten minutes ago. He will remain as an ordinary member of Lakas-CMD. He also said that he will remain the conscience of Lakas-CMD so that it will not become a party to corruption, a party with no backbone. He also wants to prevent the party from disintegrating,”  says Lambino in an ABS-CBN interview.
