Lies that my yaya often told me

I saw this entry from Noemi of Touched by an Angel: A Mother’s Recovery Notes which talks about the lies told to her by her yaya and also plugging RJ Ledesma’s Lies My Yaya Should Have Told Me. This moved me to post also some lies my yaya/s often told me.

1. When wounded or scratched, Hala ka! Lalabas dyan ang ahas at pari. Imagine that! A priest going out from my wound? It did scare me hahaha!
2. Don’t use an umbrella inside the house or a centipede will fall from the ceiling. Duh! (Err is it true?)
3. A Police, a fat lady, old people or any stranger might eat me alive if I don’t behave. Nyahay!
   
4. An extracted tooth should be thrown up on the ceiling so that a mouse will get it and they’ll give you a nice tooth in exchange. I think this is a poor man’s version of the rich people’s tooth fairy.
5. Huwag maglaro ng kandila dahil maiihi ka. This lie is usually told to us every All Soul’s day.
