Singapore Idol Hady Mirza won the title of the first Asian Idol last December 15 and 16, in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The six winners of Idol shows from six different Asian countries competed to be the first Asian Idol. They were: Hady Mirza of Singapore Idol, Mike Mohede of Indonesian Idol, Abhijeet Sawant of Indian Idol, Phuong Vy of Vietnamese Idol, and Jaclyn Victor of Malaysian Idol and Mau Marcelo of Philippine Idol.
Mirza was awarded an international recording contract and a free trip around the world to watch international Idol shows.
Winner was determined solely by text voting.
